Civano Micro Yachting Association is Growing

By Jerry Walker The Civano Micro Yachting Association has had six growing experiences since our last article, changing it forever. First, as a result of the two articles that have appeared in the Arizona Daily Star this summer, we have increased the number of participants to 12, with most living outside of Civano. So, major occurrence number two is a name change. We will now be the Pima Model Yacht Club (PMYC). Number three, we have selected our preferred boats for the Club. The Victoria will be our club “primary” sailboat, the Soling the “secondary” boat, and any long-keeled boats…

Now that we have your attention, we must grammatically qualify several of the above adjectives. Offshore: anything in water and not on dirt. CMYA Launches Another Racing Yacht

The last report of the Civano Micro Yachting Association  announced its formation.  At the time CMYA had two boats in the water and three under construction.  Now a third boat is in the water.  This one was built by Jerry Walker, a Civano resident. It is a Soling One Meter, shortened to S1M. One of the pictures shows how CMYA members “tank test” their boats. Jerry’s was in the “tank” checking out repairs because it had demonstrated a significant leak during its first outing at the pond.
